Seaside Rep - Meeting Hall Theatre | $15 | Buy Tickets
After months of controversy and delay, Noel Coward's farce, Blithe Spirit, will find its home on stage at the Seaside Repertory Theatre at the end of February. The play, which had been previously contested as part of the curriculum at South Walton High School, will feature an all high school cast and crew. After news that the play would not be able to be performed at the school, the Rep decided to host the production and give the students a chance to put on the 1940's era play.
The play tells the comedic story of a man named Charles who comes face to face with his deceased ex-wife after taking part in a séance in his home. Hilarity ensues as a medium extravagantly goes through the motions of reaching out beyond the grave in the quirkiest of ways.
As an added bonus, all proceeds raised from the performance will go to the newly formed Rep Internship Program. This program will offer hands-on experience for high school and college students looking to be a part of a professional regional theatre.
I heard through the grapevine that this year's Seaside 5K run is almost sold out - they cap it at 700 participants so don't wait to register. They take up to 2000 entrants for the half marathon and they expect it to be fully sold out by race time. Click here to register.
From the website, "Whether you are a serious distanc
e runner or a casual weekend warrior, come join us in America's Classic Beach Town on Sunday, March 2, 2008 for the sixth annual Seaside Half Marathon and 5K Run. The 5K Run is limited to the first 700 participants and the Half Marathon is limited to the first 2000 participants!
Last year's race event attracted more than 2,100 runners who hailed from all across the United States. Fast becoming one of the region's premier running events, this year's Seaside Half Marathon and 5K Run is expected to draw 2,700 runners.
All proceeds from both races benefit the Seaside Neighborhood School and all monies raised will stay in the community and be used to enhance school programs" For information on becoming a sponsor, click here.
