Pilates: Studio A now open in Miramar Beach

A new pilates studio - pilates: studio A - held it's grand opening on February 9.  Located in Miramar Beach on Highway 98, it's in the strip mall where the new Melting Pot restaurant is, just west of Silver Sands Outlet Mall. 

Branding themselves as, "NW Florida's only authentic pilates studio", they have a beautiful website that makes you want to check out the studio.  I will report back when I do.

Dr. Varnadore & The Southeast Instutite for Optimal Health

I believe it was in 2005 when Dr. William Varnadore was forced to close his Seaside clinic.  An increase in rent and, I assume, outrageous insurance costs were too much for him to run a business in that location any longer.  It was a huge loss for the community - he was an incredible family doc and many locals had developed a strong doctor-patient relationship with him.  He said he would be back once he figured out what direction he was going to take.

In 2006, that new direction was The Southeast Institute for Optimal Health, first located in Point Washington and now in Miramar Beach.  At SIOH, Dr. Varnadore takes an innovative approach to medicine, focusing on the prevention of sickness and disease before it happens by analyzing patients holistically.  Additionally, the European-influenced business model is unique in that patients pay an annual membership fee for most services rendered and do not go through any third party insurance company.
